Will Kenyan freight prices ever get back to normal?

    Even though it’s low season, Kenyan growers are still paying top dollar to get their flowers shipped by plane. Many passenger aircrafts are still grounded. The tariffs for airfreight are high compared to pre-Covid. Although it isn’t as crazy as March last year, the question is whether things will ever go back to normal.

    It’s currently winter in Kenya; the temperatures have dropped, and it rains a lot. Finding sufficient cargo capacity isn’t a problem now because production is low. In fact, there isn’t enough produce to fill the available freight capacity.”

    This is a brief summary of the current situation regarding airfreight capacity for Kenyan flowers. A different story compared to the high season, when the supply of flowers was larger, and the capacity was lacking.
