Royal FloraHolland sells a large part of its property

Royal FloraHolland has building plans for their Naaldwijk and Aalsmeer branches. The new buildings in both locations will help the auction run an efficient, effective and sustainable logistics process, and improve the cold chain. And since the fulfilment concept will reduce space requirements, the auction will sell a part of its property too.

Steven van Schilfgaarde gets up from one of the flexible workplaces on the fifth floor of the office building in Naaldwijk. The director of Royal FloraHolland (RFH) walks over to the window looking out across Trade Parc Mars and explains the development plans. This area, bordered by the Veilingroute (‘Auction route’), Middelbroekweg and Burgemeester Elsenweg roads, was bought by the auction from growers.

Over the years, the World Horti Centre was built here, but the rest of the site is still undeveloped. But that’s about to change according to Van Schilfgaarde. The auction wants to add a large warehouse to these grounds, from where plants and flowers sold directly or via the auction clock will be distributed to the customers. They might also connect the Mars and Jupiter industrial estates via a bridge across the Veilingroute. The auction wants to realise the building project together with buyers.
