New UK measures against Xylella, but Europe objects

    The UK has introduced new measures for the import of the most important Xylella host plants. As a result, certain trade is no longer possible. The European Commission has made an objection.

    The new British measures has come into force on 21 April. Only a few days before, authorities from foreign countries have been informed by the UK government. The new measures against Xylella are actually no surpise. But the timing is quite remarkable, just when the trade is suffering corona measures including closed UK garden centres.
