Every garden centre of Wyevale is sold

Wyevale Garden Centres is completely sold to other UK retailers. The remaining garden centres of the former British market leader are now part of British Garden Centres.

At the HTA National Plant Show in June people already expected that Wyevale would be completely sold before the end of this year, partly because British garden centres are  performing quite well this year in terms of sales and turnover.

Wyevale had a total of 145 garden centres when the chain went on sale. 37 stores were sold to Dobbies who has taken over the leading role in the UK garden centre market (click here to see an impression of one of leading Dobbies stores, Milton Keynes).

Another 37 Wyevales were sold to British Garden Centres which previously does the buying for 18 independent garden centres. Blue Diamond has acquired 16 Wyevales and Hillier’s garden centre chain took over 5 Wyevales. The remaining Wyevales went to other retailers. According to British media 90% of former Wyevales continue as garden centres and 95% of staff are transferred to other garden centres.
