Director Hillier: ’Plant sales are a mixed picture’

After the UK lockdown in spring, the demand for plants was huge at the 17 Hillier Garden Centres, says director Chris Francis. He explains what this meant for the supply.

How were plant sales this year? ’Plant sales were a mixed picture for us over the last year, due in large part to fluctuations in supply and demand as an impact of Covid-19’, answers Chris Francis. ’We struggled with sales in the bedding plant category as our supply was seriously affected by growers not planting batches through lockdown. Demand was huge, but we just couldn’t get enough stock.’

Read the complete interview with the director of Hillier in the new Floribusiness magazine. Francis will also explain how Hillier is looking at topic issues like UK grown, plant health, peat-free mixtures and taupe pots.
