Flowers and plants firmly in the top 10 of Dutch exported products

The export of Dutch agricultural and horticultural products has never been as high as it was last year. Statistics Netherlands (CBS) reported that the Dutch agri sector exported goods worth over EUR 81.3 billion in 2015. Flowers and plants contributed the most to this figure with an export value of EUR 8.3 bn, followed by meat (EUR 7.6 bn), milk and dairy (EUR 7.2 bn), and vegetables (EUR 6.3 bn).

When agricultural machinery and fertilizers are included, the Dutch agri sector actually exported goods to a value of almost EUR 90 bn last year. According to CBS, this is 21% of the total Dutch export.
Netherlands is second largest agricultural exporter in the world

The World Trade Organization (WTO) reported that the Netherlands is the second largest agri-export country in the world. The USA exported by far the most agri goods in 2014 (182 bn); the Netherlands followed at a respectable distance (112 bn), followed by Germany (101 bn). According to provisional figures from Eurostat and the Ministries of Agriculture in Brazil and the USA, in 2015 the Netherlands will once again be the second largest agricultural exporter in the world. The difference with the USA has fallen due to a decline in US agri exports.
