‘Omicron has made the air freight capacity even more complex’

We are at the onset of what will probably be the craziest weeks ever. As Valentine’s Day production reached its peak this week, air freight capacity hit its all-time low.

The story is familiar by now: there has been a shortage of air freight capacity for about 18 months, but Omicron has made things even more complex. Air carriers are facing a lack of crew members for their flights, which leads to many last-minute cancellations or delays. Other chain partners, such as trucking lines and customs, obviously face similar problems, causing delays in delivery of up to almost a week.
