    Alstroemeria has been thriving in Colombia. Even if exports have stopped increasing due to oversupply, growers still see opportunities. The producers of premium brand Perfection, which has been around for more than ten years, insist on quality. It remains to be seen though, what the market is going to look like the coming months.

    As an important flower country, Colombia has quite a varied supply. Roses are their number-one product, but alstroemeria has a strong presence too. Rose accounts for a quarter of the country’s flower exports and alstroemeria comes in fourth place (more than 5%), before hydrangea.

    Three Colombian companies, one of which is active in neighbouring country Ecuador as well, shed a light on the development of this popular flower.
