‘Everyone in the company views the takeover as an enormous boost’

Lappen avenue tree nursery has been taken over by the Overlack family, who changed the name into Baum & Bonheur. The German tree nursery introduced itself under the new name for the first time at the Expo for Public Space.

Lappen had been experiencing financial difficulties since 2016, when they entered into insolvency proceedings. The administrator spent the following years looking for a takeover candidate, which they eventually found. The Overlack family took over the 650-ha large avenue tree nursery, which has sites in the Netherlands as well. According to the entrepreneurial family, the financial difficulties of the German avenue tree nursery are now over.

“Everyone in the company views the takeover as an enormous boost”, says salesman Teije de Haan. The Dutchman has been working in Germany for 18 years and he closely followed the insolvency proceedings. “In the beginning, some customers were a little hesitant to place new orders for two years in advance, for example. But at the end of the day, German customers are very loyal.” (..)
