The focus of the new Floribusiness magazine is on the Netherlands. A country with a large plant and flower production, striving to be the number-one hub in the international flower trade. There’s attention for the Dutch plant and flower market, as well as Floriworld, Floriade, chrysanthemum, phalaenopsis and Royal FloraHolland.
In addition to this Dutch Flower Power, there’s certainly also plenty to read about all those other important plant and flower countries. Because it hasn’t all been happening in that small country by the North Sea alone, for a long time now.
Although business is improving in Kenya, Riya Bunty Shah of Bloomingdale is sharing a ‘profit warning’ in this Floribusiness magazine. The number of infected cases is increasing again in the East African country and if this trend continues, there may be a second lockdown.
As for Ecuador, columnist Victor van Dijk describes the current situation as a battlefield, both economically and politically. Growers in Kenya and Ecuador can’t fall back on state support.
