Last week marked the first major sales peak for all companies that are part of the Dutch Flower Group: it was Valentine’s Day, the day of true love. Roses were once again the main symbol for declaring one’s love (anonymously). While judging consumer behaviour was a rather tense experience in these uncertain times, we were not disappointed. Demand was higher than expected, which is positive.
On my visits, growers often ask me about market trends: what is going on in the various sales channels? How is the inflation impacting consumer spending? Though it is very difficult for us to look ahead amidst the uncertainty, we do see a number of important changes: First of all, we have been noticing a lower intake in terms of volume. (..)
