Sierplant.be is a company that has specialised in the cultivation of Laurus nobilis or Flemish bay laurel since 1985. ”We cultivate this plant on two hectares of land, one of which is occupied by a greenhouse that was damaged during a storm at the end of February. This is where our young plants overwinter”, explains Belgian grower Ingrid Luyssen.
”Laurel is our specialty; we produce three varieties, but the Lagerstroemia has also evolved considerably in recent times. We now sell 50 varieties that are shipped abroad via garden centres and wholesalers. We produce several varieties of laurel, only 3 of which are marketed, as well as 100 varieties of Lagerstroemia.” (..)
